Senior Accountant

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant supports the financial accounting and reporting for the Archdiocese as a team member of the Financial Services department. As a member of the Controller's Accounting & Reporting team, this position is responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and reporting, including the preparation of financial statements of the Archdiocese of Chicago required for external reporting in accordance with SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines.

This includes working in conjunction with our external auditors in the completion of the audited annual financial statements. This position will be involved in other transformational opportunities for the accounting and reporting operations.

Position Specifics

Job Responsibilities:

* Manage Monthly, Quarterly and annual US GAAP accounting and close operations.

* Lead preparation of the Designated Funds and Pastoral Center U.S. GAAP financial statements.

* Lead preparation of financial data and support for the annual external audit as directed by Controller.

* Lead preparation of the Archdiocese of Chicago Consolidated financial statements.

* Lead preparation and reporting of bond covenants for bondholders, in conjunction with the Treasury team.

* Analyze GAAP financial statements to improve management decision-making as well as support the Chief Financial Officer in meetings with bond holders and other external stakeholders.

* Manage transformational improvements for the accounting and reporting operations and systems including the use and enhancement of an upgrade to the current accounting system for US GAAP consolidations and reporting, and accounting and close optimization efforts.

* Manage the review of current accounting policies, research accounting requirements, make recommendations for new policies, and lead the implementation of new accounting standard updates.

* Manage internal controls to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial processes, accounting and financial reporting.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

* CPA is required.

* 5-8 years of accounting experience. Public accounting experience a plus. Financial statement / footnote preparation experience.

* Strong attention to detail.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Strong communications skills.

* Ability to understand and support envisioning and delivering transformational changes for accounting and reporting operations.

* Demonstrated high integrity and ethics in all operations and responsibilities.

This position has an annualized salary range of - $85.207.64 - $. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
