Director of Accounting

A respected and growing property management organization in Chicago is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead its accounting operations and serve as a strategic financial partner to leadership and clients. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving processes, and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.

• Oversee all core accounting functions including AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Review and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
• Partner with property managers and board members to provide financial guidance
• Manage year-end audit processes and collaborate with external auditors
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial statement preparation experience
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/reporting systems
• Experience with property management or ERP software (Yardi, Net Suite, Quick Books, etc.) is a plus
• Strong communication skills, integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset
