Job

Overview

The Senior Accountant manages financial records, processes, and analyses to drive compliance and support strategic decision making. This role provides timely and accurate financial information to the company by analyzing data and transactions, preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations. It requires strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, along with cross‑collaborative efforts and mentorship of junior accounting staff.

Hybrid position: in‑office presence three days a week in Chicago (Tuesday‑Thursday).

Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly and fiscal year‑end close activities, including timely and accurate journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, general ledgers, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Own account and bank statement reconciliations; verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions, resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting of future expenditures.
  • Support external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Lead accounts payable process to ensure proper coding and receipt of all invoices.
  • Continuously seek and implement opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology and process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Detail‑oriented with a passion for accuracy.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts.
  • Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related regulations.

  • Full‑time, exempt position with base compensation $90,000–$100,000 annually, plus a 7.5% bonus (total $96,750–$107,500).
