GMA Construction Group is seeking a seasoned Project Accountant
Manager with a strong background in the construction industry. As a growing general contractor, we offer opportunities to work on high-impact projects across the city, contribute meaningfully to underserved communities, and build a clear path toward upward mobility in your career.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience
, with at least 5 years in the construction industry
, and a proven track record in project-based accounting functions such as billing, job costing, and compliance tracking.

Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure proper application of sales tax exemptions
  • Verify purchase order invoicing against Procore budgets; enter direct costs as needed
  • Review, code, and process monthly credit card statements
  • Maintain and update vendor database and AP filing systems
  • Monitor AP aging report and resolve vendor issues
  • Manage AP email inbox for invoices, check requests, and credit applications
Payroll
  • Collect and review weekly employee timesheets
  • Audit hours and wages for accuracy and necessary approvals
  • Enter weekly payroll into Quick Books after the Controller s approval
  • Allocate payroll costs in Procore weekly
  • Prepare and submit Certified Payrolls for prevailing wage projects
  • Upload Certified Payrolls into LCP Tracker when required
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information
  • Direct all payroll-related data/report requests to the Director of Accounting
Project Accounting
  • Assist Project Managers in preparing monthly owner billings
  • Assemble and submit finalized billing packages to project owners
  • Review cost reports with PMs to identify cost and projection variances
  • Enter subcontractor invoices into Quick Books; collect supplier/sub waivers
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance (contracts, change orders, COIs, certified payroll)
  • Manage subcontractor payment processing and ensure timely distribution
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
  • Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-first mindset
  • Must maintain ethical conduct and strict confidentiality at all times
