Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are looking for a Director of Accounting Standards & Advisory to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

If you’re the kind of accounting leader who loves solving complex technical problems, partnering with executives, and shaping the financial backbone of a growing organization, this role might just be the most exciting thing to land on your Linked In feed today.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic, detail‑obsessed, and forward‑thinking technical accounting expert who can guide the organization through evolving accounting standards, complex transactions, and high‑visibility reporting. This leader will work cross‑functionally with FP&A, Legal, and Executive Leadership, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and clarity in all things financial.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the research, interpretation, and implementation of new accounting standards (ASC, GAAP, SEC regulations)
  • Serve as the in‑house technical accounting authority and thought partner for senior leadership
  • Evaluate and document complex transactions (M&A, revenue arrangements, equity, leases, impairments, consolidations, etc.)
  • Oversee accounting policy creation, maintenance, and governance
  • Support external audits and serve as primary liaison for technical accounting matters
  • Lead special projects involving financial reporting improvements, new system integrations, and process optimization
  • Mentor and elevate a high‑performing accounting team
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required)
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including public accounting
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and complex transaction reporting
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence executives and cross‑functional partners
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, drive clarity, and solve problems with precision
  • Excellent communication skills — you can translate accounting complexity into business clarity
What Our Client Offers
  • A hybrid schedule that respects your work‑life balance
  • Opportunities to lead impactful, high‑visibility projects company‑wide
  • A collaborative culture where your expertise actually shapes decisions (not just reports on them)
  • Professional growth resources, including leadership development, CPA CPE support, and strategic project ownership
  • Competitive compensation, strong bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package

If you want to take your technical accounting career to the next level and actually enjoy the journey, this role is built for you.
