Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Chicago, IL. Duties:
- Senior Accountant will oversee the preparation, review, and entry of invoices into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with established policies and procedures
- Maintain and manage financial records using accounting systems, databases, and spreadsheets to track expenditures, revenue, cash flow, and other financial activity
- Develop and maintain records of financial transactions by verifying, allocating, and posting business transactions to appropriate subsidiary accounts and ledgers
- Review supporting documentation such as invoices, receipts, expense reports, and system reports for accuracy and completeness
- Oversee expense reporting and variance analysis processes, ensuring required approvals are obtained and submissions align with internal guidelines
- Prepare and compile financial reports and analyses, including accounts payable and receivable, cash receipts and disbursements, profit and loss, and other operational reporting
- Ensure timely maintenance, reconciliation, and summarization of applicable ledgers and financial reports
- As a Senior Accountant, you will supervise and provide direction to Accountants and Accounting Coordinators, including workflow oversight and quality review
- Support billing, invoicing, cash receipts, data entry, budgeting, vendor agreements, payroll-related activities, and other accounting functions as assigned
- Serve as an internal consultant on accounting, reporting, billing, and related financial matters

- Progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Hands-on experience with Yardi or similar enterprise accounting/property management systems
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
