Position: Senior Accountant (Family Office)

Chicago, IL | Private Investment Platform

A highly respected, Chicago-based private investment organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team supporting a diversified portfolio of operating businesses, real assets, and investment vehicles.

This role sits within a long-term, multi-generational investment platform managing complex entities across private investments, real estate, and marketable securities. The environment is professional, discreet, and collaborative — ideal for someone who values precision, integrity, and high standards.

The Role

The Senior Accountant will support day‑to‑day accounting and reporting across multiple entities, with exposure to partnership accounting, investment activity, and tax support.

This is a hands‑on role within a sophisticated but lean team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger activity
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and income statement activity
  • Process accounts payable, receivable, capital calls, and distributions
  • Assist in preparing quarterly financial reporting packages
  • Support preparation of tax work papers (partnerships, trusts, and other entities)
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience (public accounting or investment environment a plus)
  • CPA or CPA‑track preferred
  • Experience working with multiple entities and investment‑related transactions is helpful
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working in modern accounting systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
