Job Purpose
Prepares income and balance sheet financial reports under general supervision. Performs moderately complex activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Supports Chicago Pace contract located in Chicago, IL.
CompensationCompetitive package of minimum $56,000 – maximum $70,000 (DOE).

- Responsible for organizing monthly general ledger activity for input into the accounting system.
- Monitors account balances and makes necessary adjustments. Prepares journal entries.
- Prepares and processes documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Identifies and investigates problems with the accounting system on an as‑needed basis.
- Works closely with the field to ensure accuracy of accounting information.
- Prepares income and balance sheet statements and various other accounting statements and reports for submission to the Department Lead.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
- Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
- Reconciles assigned accounts and calculates depreciation/amortization expenses as needed.
- May assist with training and mentoring Accountants.
- Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Analyzes financial reports and records, making recommendations for the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- This is an in‑office position.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 to 5 years of experience in an accounting department
- Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with MS Office products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Knowledge of automated account system; J.D. Edwards System is a plus
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions (100% outdoor work performed, often alone in remote locations).
- Sit for extended periods up to 6–8 hours per day; frequently walk long distances over sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
- Push, pull objects; lift material up to 50 lbs. sometimes without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to lower‑level files or equipment.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
