Staff Accountant
Job PurposePrepares income and balance sheet statements, supports general ledger maintenance under general supervision.
Benefits- Competitive compensation package of minimum $56,000 – maximum $70,000 (DOE)
- Vacation: minimum of two weeks

- Organize monthly general ledger activity for input into the accounting system.
- Monitor account balances, make necessary adjustments, and prepare journal entries.
- Prepare and process documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Identify and investigate accounting system problems as needed.
- Work closely with field staff to ensure accuracy of accounting information.
- Prepare income and balance sheet statements and other accounting reports for submission to the Department Lead.
- Review and verify accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
- Conduct special studies and recommend accounting methods and procedures.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
- Reconcile assigned accounts and calculate depreciation/amortization expenses.
- Assist with training and mentoring of Accountants.
- Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations for reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in an accounting department.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems; J.D. Edwards System is a plus.
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day) and walk long distances, possibly on uneven surfaces.
- Push, pull, and lift objects up to 50 lbs, occasionally bending, kneeling, or crouching.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas and exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
