The hiring company is located in downtown Chicago and is operating via a hybrid work schedule. Only local candidates to the Chicago market will be considered and relocation is not available.
Senior AccountantThis role will support core accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close activities, and cross-functional business initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with operational teams to improve financial visibility and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with accounting policies and GAAP.
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
- Support revenue recognition and project-related accounting activities.
- Monitor project financial performance and reconcile associated costs.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and expense allocation.
- Assist with invoicing and revenue tracking activities.
- Review and process vendor invoices.
- Support customer billing and collections activities.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with account resolution.
- Prepare management reports and financial analyses.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability reporting.
- Assist with audit requests and compliance initiatives.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting project-based environments preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred.
- CPA or CPA-track candidates encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
Responsibilities- Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close
- Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes
- Research and analyze expense variances for company management
- 3+ years' of professional accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
