Position: Accounting Manager (Contract, Rocket Travel by Agoda)

Overview

Rocket Travel by Agoda is a travel technology company founded in 2012 that partners with consumer travel brands to create white‑label rewards solutions. The Accounting Manager position is a Chicago‑based contract role for a minimum of nine months, with a possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the monthly and year‑end close process, including closing entries and task list.
  • Perform high‑level review of balance sheet and profit & loss accounts with the Controller to ensure financial statement completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage monthly account reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and corresponding journal entries.
  • Assist the Risk & Controls Manager in implementing the SOX readiness plan and documenting procedures.
  • Help optimize Salesforce by implementing best practices and metrics.
  • Review and approve journal entries submitted by team members.
  • Oversee accounts payable processing, invoice reconciliation, and timely payment execution.
  • Support treasury activities, including wire/ACH payment review, wire template management, and weekly cash reconciliations.
  • Review accounts receivable invoices and statements; ensure compliance with the credit & collections policy.
  • Monitor employee expenses, enforce the expense policy, and approve reimbursements.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff to support their career growth.
  • Own and deliver on initiatives, taking a resourceful approach to drive results in a small team environment.
Qualifications
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Business‑related degree, preferably Accounting; CPA required.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and Salesforce systems.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work and communicate within a small team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to pick up duties quickly with accuracy.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and data‑driven recommendation ability.
Location & Compensation

Chicago, IL. Contract position of minimum nine months, with potential extension. Hourly rate: $57.21 per hour for a standard 40‑hour week.
