Overview
At Scion, we are defining the future of student living and we’re seeking a Property Accountant to join us in executing our vision. This position will manage general accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of Scion’s communities, providing excellent service to our onsite teams and interpreting financial narratives for effective business decisions.
LocationThis position is based out of our central office in Chicago, IL and is fully on-site.

- Mantains general ledgers in compliance with GAAP and updates monthly.
- Analyzes and prepares monthly financials for assigned properties.
- Executes monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Researches and reports financial and operational variances.
- Reviews month‑end financials prepared by the Property Accounting Team and provides support to the Operations team as needed regarding financial performance of assigned properties.
- Responsible for monthly accruals, TRS entries, ground leases and completeness of Cap Ex review and proper tags.
- Responds to auditor inquiries as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of post‑baccalaureate work experience in an accounting function; experience in Real Estate or Property Management is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Manages multiple projects and meets goals and deadlines timely and consistently.
- Versatile, flexible, and thrives in an environment where there are constantly changing priorities.
The base salary range for this full‑time position is base + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all U.S. locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
