Senior Project Accountant

Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our Building Division in Chicago, IL. This position requires 50% travel to Dallas, TX and involves managing accounting for mega-projects and multiple large projects.

• Review and process subcontracts, subcontract change orders, and performance and payment bonds for compliance.
• Collect and review project subcontractor/supplier lien waivers.
• Collect, review, and process subcontractor/supplier monthly project invoices, ensuring they are properly accrued and posted to correct cost reports and phase codes.
• Ensure proper payments to all subcontractors and major suppliers.
• Maintain understanding of the Walsh cost report and related accounting functions.
• Ensure timely submission of project P&Ls and review them for accuracy.
• Process cost transfers on project cost reports for Project Management staff.
• Analyze owner billing each month and produce independent owner billings when applicable.
• Collect, review, and submit monthly owner billings to the Accounting Manager or Controller.
• Monitor cash flow and communicate with project staff about A/R tracking and payment status.
• Work independently to manage accounting operations for mega-projects or multiple large projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business‑related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction accounting or a related field.
• Ability to travel 50% to Dallas, TX.

Salary: $86,000 - $120,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for a bonus and other benefits.
