Our client, a growing real estate investment firm, seeks a detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to support financial reporting for their expanding multifamily portfolio. You will assist the Property Accounting Manager with general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting, collaborating closely with our property management brand to ensure accurate and timely financials. This role demands a self-starter with strong GAAP knowledge and real estate accounting experience.
Senior Property Accountant Responsibilities:- Support new property setup and transitions
- Oversee and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting from property management
- Perform budget variance analysis and provide detailed explanations
- Review property-level payables and receivables, addressing discrepancies with property management
- Manage property fixed asset records, including GAAP and tax depreciation
- Enter and import property-level financial data into the corporate accounting system
- Assist in managing renovation capital with the Controller and asset management team
- Conduct accounting research and document findings
- Reconcile parent company cash, investment, and equity accounts
- Calculate and initiate payments for asset management and acquisition fees
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings in accordance with GAAP
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency with Yardi or Real Page strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in institutional real estate accounting
- Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
