Forvis Mazars' Federal Tax Specialty practice is experiencing exponential growth and is seeking talented professionals who are passionate about helping our clients achieve their goals.
Forvis Mazars' Federal Tax Specialty professionals assist clients in selecting and enforcing strategies that promote growth and savings, such as the Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit. Our services include maximizing credits and advocating for clients in IRS or state audits.
As a Federal Tax Specialty intern, you will assist engagement teams with the execution of engagements to identify and support cash‑generating tax incentives. Interns participate in project planning, assist in identifying, quantifying, and qualifying business activities, and prepare supporting documentation.
How you will contribute- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team providing subject‑matter knowledge and experience. Industries include manufacturing, technology, retail, and utilities.
- Identify, analyze, and qualify value‑oriented benefits.
- Perform tax research related to technical topics.
- Update and maintain project milestones and action items.
- Conduct client interviews, gather and review client documentation.
- Substantiate results through presentations and written reports to clients.
- Assist in research and analysis of client data.
- Organize incoming documents and files from clients.
- Provide project status updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate client appointments, prepare reports, and maintain progress tracking data.
- Compile and review project reports.
- Serve client needs by planning, coordinating, and executing cross‑functional projects.
- Deliver unmatched client experience through timely and responsive communication with internal and external clients.

- Consultant positions in Tax Federal Specialty require a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- All accounting (or job‑relevant) coursework must be completed with a grade of C or above.
- Intermediate Accounting completed with a grade of C or above, where applicable.
- Solid technical accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from your assigned office and be able to attend off‑site meetings and events in person.
- Eligibility to sit for the CPA exam or other professional certifications’ exams.
- Prior internships in a public accounting firm performing tax work.
