the Role
We are seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join our Chicago headquarters team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the month‑end close process and will be responsible for preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, managing accounts payable, maintaining lease accounting under ASC 842, supporting revenue recognition, and assisting with cash management across a multi‑entity organization.
This individual will also support acquisitions and new entity integrations, help strengthen the accounting function through process improvements, audit readiness, and documentation, and work in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
Key Responsibilities- Play a key role in the month‑end close process, including preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations, researching variances, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts.
- Assist with the accounts payable and lease accounting processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, vendor communications, maintaining lease schedules, preparing lease‑related journal entries, and completing reconciliations in accordance with ASC 842.
- Record and reconcile revenue from POS systems, prepare monthly accrual and deferral entries, and ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.
- Support acquisitions, new entity integrations, and system implementations by preparing opening balance sheets and assisting with the accounting for goodwill and other intangible assets.
- Support annual financial statement audits by preparing schedules, maintaining audit‑ready documentation, and partnering with the Controller to improve accounting policies, internal controls, and processes that support a scalable accounting function.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve accounting issues, identify process improvements, and support other projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years of public accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Strong preference for candidates with hands‑on experience in Net Suite and
- Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Location:
2 North Riverside Plaza Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60606. Health, dental, and vision benefits begin shortly after start; 401(k) with up to 4% match at 90 days.
Pay range: 70,000 - 90,000 USD per year (Chicago HQ).
