Kemper is a publicly traded, multi‑billion‑dollar insurance and financial services company. We are seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Financial Reporting team at our headquarters in downtown Chicago.
Position Responsibilities- Assisting in preparation of Life & Health and Property & Casualty statutory‑basis financial statements (Blue Books, Yellow Books)
- Preparing audited financial statements and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors
- Researching emerging accounting guidance and analyzing unique operational transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
- Managing submission of state filings to various insurance bureaus and departments
- Reviewing the prepared work of Staff and Senior Accountants and providing meaningful feedback
- Designing, preparing and analyzing management reports
- Developing and performing ad hoc reporting, queries, and financial analyses as needed
- 5–8 years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate financial reporting
- BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
- Accounting/reporting experience in the insurance industry is a strong plus
- CPA or CPA candidate status is a plus
- Effective writing skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Progressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions
- Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex accounting issues
The selected candidate will work a hybrid schedule, reporting weekly to our Chicago office.
Compensation range: $79,500 to $132,900. Offer determination considers experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
