Financial Consulting Manager – Finance as a Service

RSM's Finance as a Service (FaaS) practice blends the best of both worlds: career growth opportunities of a public accounting firm and daily experience in private company environments. We provide accounting, technology, and consulting services to private lower middle‑market clients (revenues $0‑$100 million) across technology, life science, not‑for‑profit, consumer products and professional services. The role requires meeting deadlines and managing accounting activities such as month‑end close, financial reporting, year‑end audit support, and budget/forecasting support.

Managers also learn and use our cloud‑based technology stack.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting and finance functions of multiple clients in a shared‑services environment, playing the controller for each client
  • Participate in client design sessions to analyze requirements and redesign business processes per FaaS best practices—chart of accounts, procure‑to‑pay, order‑to‑cash, month‑end close, record‑to‑report
  • Lead, manage and coach client services representatives, associates, senior associates and supervisors
  • Review monthly financial statements and conduct variance or actual‑to‑budget analysis
  • Interpret financial data for client management, providing actionable insight and decision support
  • Identify opportunities to enhance monthly operations and propose process improvements
  • Understand the technology stack and recommend additional modules, integrations or add‑on processes to improve close efficiencies
  • Define and document repeatable methodologies with appropriate tools and templates for future projects
  • Establish engagement budgets
  • Conduct initial assessments, implementations and onboarding of new FaaS clients
  • Draft service agreements and statements of work
  • Participate in meetings with prospects and the proposal process
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience in a public or consulting accounting firm or other professional services environment (preferred but not required)
  • Progressive experience in accounting and financial management in a corporate accounting environment (e.g., accounting manager, assistant controller, controller, finance director, CFO)
  • Strong technical GAAP knowledge
  • Strong management accounting and operational finance knowledge
  • Experience in FP&A (financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, analysis)
  • Proven leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills across multiple client projects
  • Experience with automated accounting systems (Intacct, Net Suite, Blackline, , Tallie)
Benefits and Compensation

Compensation range: $95,400 – $192,000.
Bonus potential: discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
