Construction Controller

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands‑on Construction Controller to oversee our small (75M) client's financial and accounting operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the financial health of the business by managing the daily books, job costing, cash flow, and financial reporting.

-Manage 3 people in a couple locations-

• Set up and maintain detailed job cost ledgers for all active projects.
• Work with Unions.
• Work with Project Managers to track Labor, review budgets, track change orders, and analyze cost-to-complete.
• Review and approve project‑related invoices, ensuring they align with estimates.
• Prepare and analyze WIP (Work in Progress) schedules to prevent cost overruns and accurately reflect bonding capacity.
• Prepare accurate month‑end and year‑end financial statements.
• Monitor daily/weekly cash management to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
• Oversee (AP) and (AR), including retainage tracking and lien waivers.
• Ensure Tax compliance and coordinate with external CPAs.
• Implement and enforce internal accounting controls.

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in the construction industry managing a staff.
• Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Quick Books Desktop/Online, Sage 100 Contractor, Viewpoint).
• Strong understanding of construction‑specific accounting principles like percentage‑of‑completion and job costing.
• Ability to wear multiple hats, excellent communication skills for cross‑department collaboration, and strong attention to detail.
