Accounting Clerk

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for a team in Chicago, Illinois. This position focuses on maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, and helping keep payables and receivables current. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with accounting software, managing detailed data, and communicating effectively to resolve billing and payment issues.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor bills, verify supporting details, and record accounts payable transactions with accuracy and timeliness.

- Monitor incoming customer payments, post accounts receivable activity, and keep account balances up to date.

- Prepare and issue invoices while ensuring billing information is complete and aligned with company records.

- Perform account reconciliations to identify discrepancies, research variances, and support accurate financial reporting.

- Follow up on outstanding balances through careful collection efforts and clear communication with customers.

- Maintain organized financial data in spreadsheets and accounting systems, using Excel and Quick Books Online for daily tasks.

- Enter accounting information carefully and review records regularly to reduce errors and improve record accuracy.

This role is being offered at $24 to $26/hour. Benefits include 401K and paid time off.

Requirements

- Experience handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable activities in a detail-focused setting.

- Working knowledge of Quick Books, including routine transaction entry and account maintenance.

- Proficiency in Excel for tracking financial information, reviewing data, and supporting reconciliations.

- Background in invoice processing, payment posting, and maintaining accurate accounting records.

- Strong data entry skills with close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Ability to manage collections effectively and communicate clearly regarding past-due accounts.

- Capacity to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced accounting environment.
