About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Accounting & HR Manager to join John Hofmeister & Son, Inc. dba Hof Haus.
This is a unique opportunity to join a third-generation, family-owned manufacturer that has been serving customers since 1947. In this highly visible leadership role, you'll oversee the company's accounting operations, supervise a small accounting team, and manage essential human resources functions while working closely with ownership and department leaders.

What You'll Do
Accounting & Finance
- Oversee all daily accounting operations for the organization.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close process.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Accounting Assistant functions.
- Manage banking relationships and vendor communications.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and established accounting standards.
- Coordinate internal and external financial audits.
- Manage workers' compensation, general liability, and other financial compliance audits.
- Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements.
- Partner with ownership to provide financial reporting and business insights.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes.
Human Resources
- Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and leave programs.
- Coordinate recruiting and onboarding activities.
- Manage employee records and HR documentation.
- Administer FMLA, disability, workers' compensation, and leave requests.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Support employee relations within a union manufacturing environment.
- Partner with supervisors and managers on employee coaching, disciplinary actions, and policy administration.
- Promote OSHA compliance and workplace safety initiatives.
- Help maintain a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.
Leadership
- Supervise a small accounting and administrative team.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to direct reports.
- Collaborate closely with ownership and department leaders.
- Build strong working relationships across all departments.
- Serve as a trusted resource for both employees and leadership.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Accounting management or leadership experience in a professional environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience leading month-end and year-end close.
- Experience preparing financial statements and managing general ledger activities.
- Experience supervising accounting staff.
- Working knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting functions.
- Experience supporting human resources functions such as employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting, or compliance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- OSHA knowledge or workplace safety experience.
- SHRM certification or HR management experience.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, Aspen, Canopy, or similar platforms.
- Experience coordinating financial or government compliance audits.
- Payroll administration experience.
