Job Description:We are seeking a Property Accountant to oversee the financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of real estate properties. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with operational teams, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information while supporting month-end close and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other recurring transactions.
- Process and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, including tenant payments and vendor invoices.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing supporting schedules and work papers.
- Prepare lender reporting packages and other recurring financial reports.
- Review tenant billings, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and other property-related accounting transactions.
- Collaborate with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax filing requirements.
- Participate in process improvements and additional accounting projects as needed.
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Two or more years of accounting experience; real estate or property accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience with Yardi or another property management accounting system is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
