Staff Accountant
LaSalle Network is hiring for a Staff Accountant with a consumer products and e-commerce-leading company known for building and scaling innovative home brands across multiple sales channels. Our client is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization where finance plays a critical role in driving success. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated finance professional to join a fast-moving team in Chicago. The position offers the potential for growth and impact within a collaborative environment, with an emphasis on process improvement and automation.
Responsibilities- Execute month-end close across multiple entities: journal entries, accruals, prepaid and fixed-asset schedules, and balance-sheet reconciliations, supporting consolidated reporting.
- Reconcile high-volume e-commerce and marketplace activity (direct-to-consumer, Amazon, Walmart) — payouts, settlement reports, marketplace fees, and chargebacks/deductions — to the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable; manage vendor records, expense coding, and customer/marketplace remittances.
- Support inventory and cost accounting for imported goods, including landed cost, freight, and duties; reconcile the inventory subledger to the general ledger.
- Reconcile third-party logistics (3PL) and freight invoices and assist with related cost analysis.
- Prepare bank and credit-card reconciliations and support intercompany cost allocations between entities.
- Assist with multi-state sales and use tax compliance and filings, coordinating with the company's tax automation tools.
- Prepare work papers and schedules supporting annual tax filings, external reviews, and lender/investor reporting.
- Document and improve accounting processes — identify manual, repetitive work and partner with the CFO to automate it within the ERP and reporting stack.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close tasks.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting cycles (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations).
- Advanced Excel — comfortable with pivot tables, lookups/XLOOKUP, and reconciling large data sets.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Employment Type:
Contract - Compensation: $30 – $40 hourly
- Location:
Chicago, Illinois - Work Model:
