Tax Senior

Withum’s Tax Services Group is a team of tax specialists dedicated to ensuring tax reporting obligations are met accurately and timely while minimizing or deferring tax payments. Leveraging expertise in international, U.S. federal, state, and local regulations—alongside our affiliation with HLB International—the group develops economical tax strategies across a range of services including Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, and International and Private Client services.

As a Tax Senior based at our offices in Lincolnshire, IL;
East Brunswick, NJ;
Princeton, NJ;
Red Bank, NJ; or Whippany, NJ, you will work closely with seasoned CPAs and industry leaders, taking a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements, supervising and mentoring staff, and building and maintaining client relationships.

• Preparing complex individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
• Reviewing mid‑level complexity returns prepared by staff for accuracy.
• Researching and drafting memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identifying tax‑planning opportunities.
• Handling and resolving tax controversies.
• Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines efficiently.
• Providing supervision, training, and support to engagement staff while promoting open communication with partners and managers.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA, or currently working toward CPA certification.
• Master of Science in Taxation preferred but not required.
• 3‑5 years of prior experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Strong ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, interactive, results‑based team environment.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities to represent the firm to client management.
• Excellent organizational, project‑management skills, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Base compensation ranges:
Chicago $70,000 – $115,000;
New Jersey $80,000 – $105,000. In addition to base pay, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. Final offers depend on role, location, and individual qualifications. For more information on benefits, visit
