Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a service-focused organization in Chicago, Illinois. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong experience handling a large volume of accounts payable work. The role offers the chance to support day-to-day accounting operations while contributing to accurate financial records and efficient payment processing.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring proper coding and timely entry into the accounting system.

- Review purchase orders, match supporting documentation, and resolve discrepancies before payments are released.

- Manage accounts payable activities from invoice receipt through payment completion while maintaining organized records.

- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to support accurate month-end financial reporting.

- Complete bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items to keep cash records current and reliable.

- Support billing-related tasks, including verifying charges and coordinating with internal teams on invoice questions.

- Use Net Suite and related accounting tools to maintain data integrity, track transactions, and generate needed information for the finance team. Requirements - At least 3 years of accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on high-volume accounts payable processing.

- Demonstrated ability to code invoices accurately and manage payable invoices in a deadline-driven setting.

- Hands-on experience with account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.

- Working knowledge of purchase order processes and three-way matching principles.

- Experience supporting billing functions within an accounting or finance environment.

- Proficiency with Net Suite or a comparable ERP/accounting platform.

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
