Accounting & Finance, Financial Analyst
This isn't simply another tax position.
We're partnering with a growing professional services firm that is investing in a specialized Cost Segregation practice and looking for someone who wants the opportunity to help build it.
The right person will bring experience in cost segregation, specialty tax, fixed assets, depreciation, construction cost analysis, or a closely related area and have an interest in becoming a trusted resource to clients.
You'll work directly with CPAs, attorneys, real estate professionals, business owners and investors while helping clients identify accelerated depreciation opportunities across commercial, industrial and multifamily properties.
What You'll Do- Conduct and support cost segregation studies from initial documentation through final client deliverable
- Analyze construction costs, architectural plans, invoices and property documentation
- Identify and classify building components for appropriate depreciation treatment
- Perform site inspections and document qualifying assets
- Develop cost models and detailed supporting analyses
- Apply MACRS, depreciation rules and applicable IRS guidance
- Prepare clear, defensible reports supporting asset classifications and tax positions
- Partner directly with CPAs, attorneys, property owners and real estate professionals
- Explain findings and tax-saving opportunities to clients in a clear, consultative manner
- Support the continued development and growth of the firm's Cost Segregation practice
We're open to different paths into this role.
Your background may be in:
- Specialty tax consulting
- Fixed assets / asset allocation
- Engineering-based property analysis
Direct cost segregation experience is strongly preferred, but we are also interested in professionals whose experience overlaps significantly with this work.
Experience with any combination of the following would be particularly relevant:
- MACRS and accelerated depreciation
- Section 179D
- Fixed asset reallocation
- Construction documents and architectural drawings
- RSMeans or construction cost estimating
- Excel-based financial or cost modeling
- Commercial, industrial or multifamily real estate
This is an opportunity to join at an important stage of growth rather than step into an already established seat.
The person hired will have meaningful exposure to clients and leadership, the opportunity to influence how the practice develops and a potential long-term path into leadership as the division grows.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of the work but also wants to build relationships, advise clients and have a larger voice in the business.
