With a history dating back to 1979, our team of lawyers provide expert advice and representation before assessment officials and taxing bodies throughout Illinois. We prioritize working closely with our clients to ensure informed decisions regarding their property tax interests.
Role DescriptionThis is a full-time 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday on-site role at Weis, DuBrock, Doody & Maher. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including managing the reception desk, answering phone calls, legal document preparation, client outreach, providing administrative assistance, facilitating communication within the firm, and supporting lawyers in various tasks related to property tax appeals.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or greater;
Legal or Secretarial certification is a plus - Mathematical skills and ability to work well with numbers
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and comfortable with Adobe
- Ability to carry at least 15lbs
- Document Preparation
:
Draft, format, edit and proofread various legal documents and correspondence. Correct any mistakes in grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.… - Client Interaction
:
Reaching out to clients via email and phone call in a friendly manner. - File Management
:
Data entry to both physical and electronic filing systems, ensuring documents are organized and readily accessible to the attorney. - Time Management
:
There is a limited timeframe to file a Client’s appeal. Filing deadlines are set by the County so we must send all correspondence and evidence requests to the Client in a fast and efficient manner well ahead of time. - Administrative responsibilities

Answer incoming calls in a friendly manner and direct them to appropriate office personnel, handling correspondence, assistance with uploading data to County databases to facilitate an appeal, and assistance with billing and invoicing.
