Federal Work Study – Lab Assistant Aide Harry Truman Campus – Information Tech Department
The Federal Work Study program offers part‑time employment for eligible students. This position supports the Information Technology team with a wide range of tasks, from user support to administrative duties.
Essential Duties- Serve as the initial point of contact for staff and students experiencing technical issues, both in person and over the phone.
- Greet faculty, staff, and students visiting the office and notify IT staff of their arrival.
- Log and track support helpdesk tickets and calls and escalate emergencies to senior staff.
- Assist with the setup, testing, and troubleshooting of audio/visual equipment in conference rooms, classrooms, and meeting spaces.
- Assist with clerical tasks, including data entry and organizing inventory and office supplies.
- Assist with project‑based tasks such as software and hardware rollouts, inventory management, and equipment deployment preparation.
- Adhere to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the United States.
- Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit semester hours.
- Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
- Applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students).
- Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
- Applicants must not be current full or part‑time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.
- All positions are “employment at‑will.”
- High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
- Knowledge of the City Colleges of Chicago system.
- Technical skills: basic understanding of computers.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as a City Colleges of Chicago representative.
- Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, committed to the job, and possess some computer knowledge.
Hourly wage: $17.00 per hour. The offered rate may be adjusted based on whether the assigned location is on campus or off campus.
