OFFICE AMBASSADOR- RECEPTIONIST | Chicago, Illinois | Full-Time | In
- Office
PAY:
$25/hour+

At TORKLAW, the person who welcomes our clients and guests isn't simply answering phones or sitting at a front desk. You are often the first impression of our firm.

Our Clients often come to us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. From the first phone call to the moment someone walks through our doors, we want them to immediately feel that they are in capable, caring hands.

We're looking for an exceptional Office Ambassador/Receptionist to own that experience at our Chicago office.

This is an opportunity for someone who is polished, warm, highly organized, resourceful, and takes genuine pride in doing things exceptionally well. You notice the details others miss, anticipate what clients, guests, and colleagues may need, and are comfortable stepping in to help make things happen.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN The Client & Guest Experience
  • You will be one of the first people our clients and guests encounter at TORKLAW
  • You’ll greet people warmly, help them feel comfortable, understand what they need, and ensure they are taken care of quickly and professionally.
  • Every interaction matters.
The Front Office
  • You’ll take ownership of our reception area and help ensure our Chicago office is always organized, welcoming, professional, and ready for clients and guests.
  • If something needs attention, you don’t simply walk past it- you take ownership of it.
Communication

You’ll answer and route incoming calls professionally, take accurate messages, assist callers when appropriate, and make sure people reach the right person.

Office Operations

You’ll help keep the office running seamlessly, including:

  • Welcoming clients, guests, vendors, and visitors
  • Managing incoming calls and messages
  • Coordinating conference rooms and meetings
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Maintaining office and kitchen supplies
  • Assisting with vendors and office needs
  • Helping prepare for meetings, events, and visitors
  • Supporting attorneys and team members with administrative needs
  • Stepping in wherever needed to help the office succeed

The individual tasks may sometimes seem small. The standard by which they’re performed isn’t.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with exceptional judgment, communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership.

You’ll likely thrive here if:

  • You genuinely enjoy helping people.
  • You are polished, professional, warm, and confident.
  • You communicate exceptionally well in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • You’re extremely organized and notice details other people miss.
  • You anticipate problems instead of waiting for someone else to solve them.
  • You remain composed when several things need your attention at once.
  • You’re resourceful and figure things out.
  • You’re comfortable with technology and learn new systems quickly.
  • You take pride in creating an exceptional experience for others.
  • You understand that being part of a team sometimes means stepping outside your normal routine to help get something done.

Experience in hospitality, luxury retail, professional services, healthcare, executive reception, customer experience, concierge services, or another high-touch service environment is especially valuable.

Prior law firm experience is not required. We’re more interested in finding an exceptional person than someone with the perfect résumé.

Is This the Right Fit For You?

This is a highly visible, service-oriented position that requires initiative, adaptability, and consistent attention to detail.
You’ll be most successful in this role if you enjoy interacting with people throughout the day, are comfortable managing changing priorities, and naturally look for opportunities to help rather than waiting to be given your next task.

If you prefer narrowly defined responsibilities, limited interaction with others, or a highly predictable day-to- day routine, this may not be the right fit.

We hold ourselves to a high standard because the experience we create for our clients and one another matters.
