Role DescriptionThe Chief of Staff is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for supporting the school’s leadership team in strategic planning, daily operations, and organizational initiatives. This position coordinates cross-departmental projects, manages key administrative processes, and helps ensure that policies and procedures are consistently implemented. The Chief of Staff prepares reports and presentations, supports meeting agendas and follow-up actions, and serves as a central point of contact between leadership, staff, and external partners.
The role involves monitoring progress on strategic goals, identifying operational challenges, recommending solutions, and assisting with communication to stakeholders. The Chief of Staff also helps plan events, supports budgeting and resource allocation, and contributes to a collaborative, student-centered culture.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational leadership, project management, and administrative coordination in an educational or mission-driven setting.
- Strong skills in communication, writing, and presentation, with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software) and comfort learning new systems and databases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience building collaborative relationships and working effectively with educators, staff, families, and community partners.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and integrity when handling sensitive information and supporting school leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, management, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are beneficial.
- Prior experience in a school or nonprofit environment and familiarity with high school operations are preferred.
