Professional Match Maker--Connecting professionals in Supply Chain & Logistics, Engineering, Operations, Human Resources, and Executive…LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Logistics Manager to join their team in Chicago, IL. This role will manage all aspects of logistics operations: importing from China, US small parcel, and freight carriers. Previous experience in the e-commerce industry is required. Key Responsibilities:
- Shipping and Freight Management: Oversee all shipping and freight processes, ensuring efficient scheduling and optimization across a complex environment with numerous distribution points.
- Carrier Strategy: Optimize carrier strategy across global suppliers to ensure best-in-class service, promoting lowest cost, fastest speed, and high reliability.
- Third-Party Logistics: Scope, define, and manage third-party logistics relationships, ensuring compliance with company standards and agreements.
- Supplier Performance: Define and monitor metrics for supplier performance, enforcing conformance to ensure on-time delivery and quality.
- Cost Management: Utilize an analytical mindset to manage costs, frequency, and performance by vendor, leveraging tools like Excel (VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables) and Power
BI. - Claims Tracking: Track and manage shipment claims, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations.
- Freight Brokers: Manage relationships with freight brokers to ensure smooth operations and cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in logistics, with a focus on e-commerce and small parcel shipments. Experience in a distributor or manufacturer setting is essential.
- Importing Expertise: Proven experience importing products from China, with a solid understanding of tariffs and their impact on the business and lead times.
- Carrier and Freight Broker Management: Experience working with carriers and freight brokers, managing shipping lanes, and handling drop shipments directly from vendors.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to manage costs and performance, with proficiency in Excel and Power
