Loadsmart is looking for an experienced Director of Carrier Procurement to join our rapidly growing team. In this role you will help lead our procurement and operations strategy as we work to scale into a $1B brokerage. You will lead a growing team of operations managers and representatives across our Carrier Procurement department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, implement and execute strategies to grow profitability across our Enterprise, Mid Market, and SMB customer base, while also expanding new service offerings.

You have a desire to roll up your sleeves to get the job done but also possess strategic sales and operational strategies to deliver aggressive growth goals.

LOCATION: Chicago, IL, On-site 5 days a week

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Lead and scale Loadsmart’s Carrier Procurement function across Dry Van, Refrigerated, Flatbed, Partial Truckload, and Expedite services in the Midwest and Great Plains regions
  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing procurement talent, driving productivity and carrier relationship growth
  • Partner with Sales leadership on go-to-market strategies to win new customers and expand existing accounts
  • Align carrier capacity with customer demand through close collaboration with Sales, Operations, Pricing, and Product teams
  • Manage Operations Managers and Representatives against defined performance metrics and service KPIs
  • Build carrier strategy and operational capability using proprietary technology to rapidly expand the carrier base
  • Work with Product and Engineering to deliver best-in-class tools that support scale and expansion initiatives
  • Expand value-added services (e.g., Hazmat) to increase wallet share across mid-market and enterprise customers
  • Engage directly with key prospects and customers alongside Sales leadership to accelerate deal cycles
  • Strengthen and grow strategic partnerships with core customers
  • Own key financial metrics, including GPPL and purchasing vs. market performance
  • Provide regular performance and objective updates to executive leadership
YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE
  • 6+ years of freight brokerage experience leading Carrier Procurement and Operations teams, with strong carrier relationship management expertise
  • Proven track record of scaling operations within high-growth logistics organizations
  • Dynamic, analytical, and results-driven leader with consistent performance delivery
  • Deep expertise in designing and implementing complex, multi-modal transportation solutions
  • Hands-on leadership style with extensive experience developing shipper-specific solutions
  • Demonstrated customer-facing experience partnering with Sales teams to close large opportunities

$140,000 - $150,000 a year

The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, the candidate’s experience and expertise. In addition to your base compensation offer, this role is eligible for an incentive bonus. You will also receive stock options and benefits listed below.
