Position: Am Law Firm Business Development Manager (hybrid) [82138]

Overview

The Am Law Firm Business Development Manager is a strategic, partner-facing role supporting corporate practice groups (including capital markets, public companies, funds, and real estate). This position drives high-impact business development and marketing initiatives, manages attorney relationships, and oversees day-to-day BD operations. The role requires strong strategic planning, persuasive writing, and the ability to align practice-level efforts with broader industry and client strategies, while leading a small team and influencing key stakeholders.

Type:
Direct hire, hybrid 3 to 4 days on-site per week

Schedule:
Regular day hours, with some events after hours

Salary: $135,000 to $155,000

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; focus in writing, research/analysis, strategic planning, marketing, or business development preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or client service, ideally within legal or professional services
  • Proven experience supporting corporate practices, including exposure to capital markets, public companies, funds, or real estate
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce high-quality proposals, RFP responses, and strategic content
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and partners
  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and data-driven decision-making
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Teams, Excel)
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and adaptability
  • Prior people management experience preferred (direct oversight of team members)
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours as needed
Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end proposal and RFP development, including strategic messaging, drafting, and submission, while mentoring team members on best practices
  • Partner with practice leadership and operations stakeholders to execute priority business development initiatives
  • Support lateral recruiting and integration, collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful onboarding and practice assimilation
  • Manage legal directory submissions, rankings, and awards, including research, drafting, and submission processes
  • Drive practice-level strategic plans, ensuring execution of key BD initiatives and growth priorities
  • Align business development strategies with broader industry and client team objectives
  • Oversee development of marketing materials, events, and sponsor ships, including ROI tracking and performance analysis
  • Utilize CRM and analytics tools to track client engagement, identify growth opportunities, and inform strategy
  • Manage BD budgets, including expense approvals and recommendations on strategic investments
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis, monitoring industry trends, client activity, and news to proactively identify opportunities
  • Lead, coach, and develop BD team members (approximately 2 direct reports)
