Our client is looking for a Buyer who has experience purchasing for kitchen equipment, utensils, disposables/packaging (plasticware, paper plates, food containers, etc.) and/or chemicals (cleaners, sanitizers, etc.).

The Buyer is responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure consistent product availability across a fast-paced food distribution environment. This role focuses on short-term procurement decisions, supplier coordination, and inventory management to support operational efficiency and customer demand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute purchase orders for various products based on demand forecasts and inventory levels
  • Monitor inventory daily and adjust purchasing to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
  • Maintain strong communication with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Resolve order discrepancies, shortages, and quality issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and sales teams to align purchasing with operational needs
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data and documentation within ERP systems
  • Support cost control initiatives by identifying savings opportunities and minimizing waste
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5+ years of purchasing relevant items (see above)
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes
  • Proficient in Excel and data analysis
