Position OverviewWe are seeking a Director of Business Development to lead the firm’s growth initiatives, strengthen client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and elevate our presence within the Chicago design and business communities. This individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team and work closely with the Principals to shape and execute the firm’s business development strategy. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, strategic thinker, and proactive self‑starter who understands professional services marketing and business development.
Experience with in architecture, engineering, construction, commercial real estate, or design‑related industries is strongly preferred.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new client opportunities across targeted market sectors.
- uild and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective projects and strategic relationships.
- Track leads, opportunities, and business development metrics through CRM systems and regular reporting.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to establish annual growth goals and market priorities.
- Cultivate long‑term relationships with existing clients, owners, developers, brokers, project managers, and industry partners.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and expanded services with current clients.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, networking events, industry organizations, and community activities.
- Coordinate client engagement strategies and follow‑up activities.
- Monitor market trends, economic activity, and development opportunities within Chicago and surrounding markets.
- Identify emerging sectors, geographic opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
- Assist leadership in evaluating and pursuing new market initiatives.
- Strengthen the firm’s visibility through participation in industry associations, conferences, and professional events.
- Lead or support proposal, qualification, and interview efforts.
- Coordinate pursuit strategies with Principals and project leaders.
- Help develop compelling presentations and messaging that communicate the firm’s value proposition.
- Work closely with Principals and Marketing staff to align business development activities with firm capabilities and resources.
- Foster a culture of client service and business development throughout the organization.
- Participate in strategic planning and leadership discussions regarding growth and market positioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Interior Design, Real Estate, or related field.
- 7–15+ years of business development, client development, sales, marketing, or professional services experience.
- Experience with in architecture, engineering, construction, commercial real estate, workplace strategy, or design‑related industries preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
- Strong presentation, communication, and networking skills.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and professional service pursuits.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and business development reporting.
- Established network within the Chicago business, real estate, development, or design community is highly desirable.

- The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
