The Procurement team is moving beyond traditional sourcing goals to create value for the enterprise by improving profitability, increasing supplier collaboration, and supporting new solution development. As the Procurement Director, you will architect, execute, and manage the global sourcing strategy for our external manufacturing and repair ecosystem. You will be responsible for building a resilient, high‑performing partner network that supports Motorola Solutions’ complex hardware portfolio. This role requires an expert negotiator and a strategic leader who can balance cost optimization, supply continuity, rigorous quality standards, and technological innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute multi‑year global procurement strategies for External Manufacturing Services (EMS), Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), and global repair networks aligned with corporate growth and technological innovation.
- Lead complex negotiations for Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to secure optimal pricing, capacity guarantees, and favorable commercial terms.
- Drive aggressive cost‑reduction initiatives, value engineering, should‑cost modeling, and margin improvement across the product lifecycle.
- Serve as the primary executive contact for key manufacturing partners, driving continuous improvement through structured Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and executive steering committees.
- Partner closely with R&D, Engineering, and Product Management to seamlessly transition new designs to ODM and EMS partners, ensuring time‑to‑market and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) targets are met.
- Optimize the global repair network to support aftermarket services, ensuring high yield and rapid turnaround times (TAT).
- Continuously assess global macroeconomic trends, tariffs, and geopolitical risks to proactively adjust manufacturing footprints.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high‑performing global team of strategic sourcing professionals.
- Serve as a bridge between Supply Chain Operations, Quality Assurance, Legal, Engineering, and Business Executives.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- 10+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management experience, with at least 5 years in a dedicated leadership role.
- Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes, PCBA assembly, mechanical fabrication, and reverse logistics.
- Proven track record specifically managing EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturers) relationships within high‑tech, telecommunications, aerospace, or automotive industries.
- Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, should‑cost modeling, and macro‑economic tracking.
- Department and talent management including recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
