Director, Platform

Moderne Ventures is seeking a Director to join the firm's Platform Team and lead revenue-driven engagement across portfolio companies and the Moderne Network.

This role is centered on helping high-growth technology companies successfully sell into large, complex, multi-trillion-dollar industries including real estate, finance, insurance, and adjacent sectors.

The Director will act as a true sales leader and strategic operator working hands‑on with founders to refine value propositions, position solutions for enterprise buyers, and create pathways to revenue. This individual will facilitate high-impact meetings with senior decision-makers, systematically guide companies through the Moderne Passport Program, and actively drive pilots, partnerships, and commercial outcomes across our network of corporate partners.

We are looking for someone who thrives on helping companies win new business: a relationship-driven leader who can open doors, shape enterprise-ready messaging, and accelerate adoption. The Director will build and manage C-level relationships, identify strategic opportunities, and orchestrate introductions that lead to real growth and measurable results for both portfolio companies and partners.

This role reports to the Managing Director, Head of Platform and will play a key part in scaling how Moderne helps companies generate revenue, secure partnerships, and expand into new markets.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Moderne Passport Program and Portfolio Management:

  • Provide ongoing sales and partnership support to Moderne's Fund Drivers (portfolio companies) beyond the program to help accelerate adoption and revenue.
  • Lead companies through the six-month Passport Program:
    Coach founders on value proposition clarity, enterprise positioning, and sales strategy to help them successfully sell into large industry partners;
    Facilitate and secure strategic customer opportunities, pilots, and partnerships for Passport participants;
    Develop case studies and success stories that demonstrate commercial outcomes and program impact;
    Source and recruit high‑potential technology companies to join the Passport program.

II. Corporate Partnerships:

  • Expand relationships with executives across Moderne's core verticals
  • Orchestrate introductions, meetings, and strategic engagements that lead to measurable outcomes for both corporate partners and portfolio companies.
  • Understand industry wide opportunities, gaps and challenges; surface market insights and partnership opportunities that inform thematic sourcing and investment strategy in collaboration with the investment team while facilitating matchmaking introductions between portfolio companies and corporate partners
Qualifications and Qualities of an Ideal Candidate:

Must-Have:

  • 5-15+ years of experience doing technology sales, consulting, and corporate strategy in one of more of Moderne's vertical markets.
  • Strong business development and sales skills
  • The ability to cultivate executive level relationships.
  • Experience working with Founders and in the startup community generally
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% domestically

Preferred:

  • Based in Chicago
  • Experience working with institutional grade clients and asset managers to integrate new technology solutions in one or more of Moderne's core verticals
