Grants Specialist

The Grants Specialist is a key member of a small, dynamic team, prepares grant applications, reviews and executes grant related contracts, monitors and reports grant performance and provides administrative support for grant implementation. Candidates should possess excellent writing and research and time management skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Excel. The candidate must be highly organized, work effectively under pressure and demonstrate independent judgment.

The candidate should be interested in behavioral health, social services and/or public health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Researches resources for federal, state, county, city, and other requests for proposals (RFPs) regularly.
  • Researches resources for appropriate foundation grants.
  • Presents appropriate RFPs to the Director of Grants and Vice President of Operations.
  • Conducts academic-quality research into grant topics for background and statement of need sections of proposals.
  • Collaborates with clinical staff to develop grant projects based on agency needs and RFP requirements.
  • Writes grant proposals and/or grant proposal sections as assigned and in full compliance with RFP requirements.
  • Assists in all aspects of preparing a grant application for submission, including compiling required attachments and completing forms with a high level of accuracy.
  • Consults with designated staff from the Finance Department on needs for grant budgets and fiscal reporting.
  • Maintains department electronic and physical files.
  • Collects performance data from grant-funded programs and prepares and submits required grant reports.
  • Facilitates contract and grant agreement execution.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is strongly preferred; we will consider relevant experience at least equivalent to completion of 4 years of college work.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
  • Strong writing skills are required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • The applicant must have the ability to research applicable rules, regulations, and program models and apply them to a specific project.
