Business Manager, Consumer Identity
The Consumer Identity team is looking for a Business Manager for the Strategy and Analytics team to help protect customers’ identities from fraud and to support Capital One’s focus on customer‑centric analysis. The role involves partnering with Product Managers, Engineering, Design, and other stakeholders to drive strategy and analytics that optimize fraud prevention.
Responsibilities- Evaluate the effectiveness of new identity tools and optimize policy to set a strategic roadmap for the next generation of identity defenses.
- Analyze, respond to, and mitigate fraud attacks in partnership with lines of business across the company to ensure defenses keep pace with attackers.
- Establish foundational credit‑risk management infrastructure.
- Create frameworks to assess platform‑level customer experiences and identify leverage points for reducing friction and driving satisfaction.
- Explore opportunities to leverage customer‑level data (e.g., cross‑LOB behavioral) for fraud and other high‑leverage use cases.
- Develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success amid shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
- Manage and develop 1‑2 analysts, coaching and mentoring associates to retain talent.
- Lead product and pricing strategies for lending products, including product‑level modeling/analytics.
- Direct on‑line and direct‑to‑consumer marketing efforts for select products and build insights to inform new customer experiences and technology concepts.
- Lead credit‑risk initiatives, creating risk models and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis.
- Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently, building business requirements and executing against product strategy.
- Partner with IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other teams to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.
- At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis.
- Current or in‑process degree:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or MBA with a quantitative concentration (business, finance, economics, statistics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related field). - Preferred:
Master’s in business or quantitative field; 5+ years of analysis experience; 2+ years in financial services; 1+ year consulting experience; 2+ years people management. - Previous consulting experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and decision‑making skills; ability to translate data into actionable strategy.
- Excellent written and oral communication; strategic influencing and negotiation abilities.
- Proven track record of thriving in fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environments.
Capital One offers competitive salaries with a base range by location and performance‑based incentive compensation that may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
Chicago, IL: $149,800 – $171,000
McLean, VA: $164,800 – $188,100
