As a Manager in the Healthcare and Life Sciences – Mergers & Acquisitions practice at West Monroe, you will join a team that will challenge you and invest in your success. You will have the opportunity to work with interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems applying innovative and diverse solutions.
This role will give you the opportunity to lead and collaborate on projects serving our Private Equity and Strategic clients investing in and acquiring technology‑enabled Healthcare and Life Sciences companies across the transaction lifecycle. A key focus of this role includes advising clients across Life Sciences sectors such as CDMO/contract manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharma services, oncology, radiology/imaging, diagnostics, and laboratory services.
The team leads projects related to our core offerings, including platform acquisitions, mergers/integrations, corporate divestiture/carve‑outs, sell‑side readiness, Day 1 readiness planning, and post‑close value creation and execution management.
Qualifications
- Years of experience in Healthcare and/or Life Sciences in at least one of the following: M&A, Consulting. Prior experience in Healthcare IT or Life Sciences technology environments preferred
- Experience supporting transactions or operational initiatives within Life Sciences sectors including CDMO/contract manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharma services, oncology, radiology/imaging, diagnostics, laboratory services, and other technology‑enabled Healthcare & Life Sciences organizations
- Years of experience in one of the following processes: organizational transformation, system implementation, healthcare investment banking, M&A advisory, finance & accounting, life sciences
- Understanding of Life Sciences operating models, manufacturing environments, regulatory considerations, and commercial scalability
- Experience managing multiple projects and work streams simultaneously
- Experience developing and supporting internal team objectives (e.g. operations, strategy, performance, thought leadership)
- Experience managing teams and projects from initiation through execution with demonstrable value and quantifiable results
- Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day‑to‑day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high‑quality outputs
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, team‑oriented environment
- Deep understanding of new and existing technologies and the ability to leverage and apply to client solutions
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
Position Expectations & Responsibilities
Client Delivery
- Work directly with clients and the Targets they are/have invested in to define how technology and operations support business functions and create value, illustrate how data is generated and commoditized, identify opportunities for improvement, highlight investment risks and associated tactics to mitigate identified risk
- Facilitate interviews and workshops to understand Targets’ business models, issues they are facing, and initiatives they have implemented to address challenges and support growth across Healthcare & Life Sciences sectors
- Evaluate the technology systems, manufacturing environments, and operational capabilities of a business and be able to identify compliance, operational, revenue, and growth opportunities and risks
- Assess operational and technology environments across Life Sciences organizations including CDMOs, pharma services organizations, oncology platforms, radiology/imaging providers, and diagnostic and laboratory businesses
- Develop client‑ready communications and deliverables that support our clients’ investment theses, facilitate decision making, communicate status, identify and mitigate risk, and resolve issues
- Lead creation of project‑related deliverables such as project plans, implementation plans, communication plans, and financial models
