Overview
Strategic Planning and Execution Director – responsible for driving Carelon’s most critical priorities through strategy development, capability building, and execution support. The role works across Carelon businesses to translate high‑level strategy into actionable programs and projects.
Location and Work ArrangementThis position requires on‑site presence three days per week with the flexibility to work remotely as needed. Alternate locations may be considered for candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance from an office. Candidates who do not reside within that distance will not be considered unless accommodations are granted as required by law.
Responsibilities- Manages strategic projects, reports, and analysis.
- Leads the development and direction of selected issues and projects.
- Supports complex, high‑profile initiatives—often multiple concurrently—on behalf of the VP of Growth & Strategy.
- Understanding all aspects of the business and partnering with executive leadership to define strategy and success criteria.
- Translates strategy into defined tactics, program/project priorities, and timelines to bring strategy to fruition.
- Facilitates or leads discovery sessions with business unit and growth & strategy teams to define scope and success criteria.
- Builds and leverages relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.
- Identifies opportunities to improve initiative results through continuous monitoring and needs assessments.
- Propagates execution methods, techniques, or approaches that improve confidence and reduce risk.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of line‑of‑business planning and project activities.
- Travels to worksites and other locations as necessary.
- BA/BS degree in a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong program management skills with a track record of navigating ambiguity in a complex, multi‑stakeholder corporate environment.
- Prior strategy or management consulting experience.
- Experience translating complex, technical information into presentation‑friendly formats, including graphical displays for executive audiences.
- Healthcare domain experience on the payor or provider side.
- Previous support of complex, high‑profile initiatives.
- Program/project setup, advisory, governance, and management experience.
- Executive‑level communication delivery experience (senior VP+ leaders).
- Master’s degree preferred.
Salary range: $126,000 to $207,900 (location: Illinois, Virginia). The compensation package includes a comprehensive benefits program, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase plan, 401(k) contribution, and other eligibility‑based benefits.
