The Membership Operations Manager plays a key role in supporting the American Academy of Periodontology’s mission by delivering a high-quality, responsive member experience. This role leads daily membership operations, overseeing the full member lifecycle—from on-boarding through renewal and retention—while guiding the member services team and ensuring timely, accurate support. Working closely with Marketing, IT, and Finance, this position drives the annual dues renewal process, supports recruitment and engagement efforts, and leverages data to strengthen retention and operational efficiency.

- Salary Range: 82k-90k based on skills and experience
In this role, you will lead and support the following key functions:
Member Services & Team Leadership- Lead day-to-day member services, ensuring timely, professional, and accurate responses to inquiries
- Supervise and develop member services staff, providing training, guidance, and support
- Maintain high service standards and resolve complex member issues as needed
- Manage the Member Resource Center at the Annual Meeting and support membership promotion at events
- Monitor member feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall experience
- Oversee the full membership lifecycle, including applications, on-boarding, renewals, and record maintenance
- Lead the annual dues renewal process, including planning, execution, and performance tracking
- Partner with Marketing on recruitment, renewal, and engagement campaigns
- Maintain membership policies, procedures, and documentation, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with Finance on dues processing and revenue reconciliation
- Participate in cross-functional projects and support department budgeting
- Analyze membership data to identify trends and opportunities related to growth, retention, and engagement
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and key performance metrics
- Ensure data accuracy within the association management system (AMS) and support member transactions
- Serve as a backup system administrator, assisting with user support, reporting, and troubleshooting
- 5+ years of experience in membership operations, association management, or a related field; nonprofit or membership-based organization experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
- Strategic, data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Highly organized with strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience with association management systems (Personify preferred) and data/reporting tools
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for reporting and data analysis
- Experience improving processes, systems, or operational workflows is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and contribute as part of a team
- Ability to travel for the Annual Meeting or other events as needed
