About The Department
BSD ACC - Administrative Operations. The mission of the Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care is to provide outstanding compassionate patient care; educate each other and the next generation of physicians and scientists; lead in scholarship, discovery and innovation; and bring out the best in all with whom we work. Faculty, other academic appointees, residents, postdoctoral scholars and fellows conduct a broad range of research and clinical care.

The Operations Coordinator works under the general direction of the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care Section Administrator (or their designee). The ideal candidate is a highly organized, resourceful professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment and is energized by the operational details that keep a department running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and special assignments related to activities in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care administrative offices.
- Participate in process and performance improvement by identifying, analyzing, and enhancing existing processes to achieve better outcomes.
- Coordinate the smooth onboarding of new faculty and other providers.
- Manage special projects, functions, and events related to the Department including visitor applications, orientations and various outreach events.
- Maintain updates and front‑end maintenance of the DACC website working with leadership across the department as needed.
- Coordinate the development and distribution of the departmental newsletter.
- In conjunction with University and UCMC communications teams, maintain a DACC profile on various social media platforms.
- Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date departmental leadership contact list and Emergency Operations Manual and ensure proper distribution of the EOM.
- Administer various surveys as part of ongoing departmental operations or special projects.
- Follow up with faculty and staff on the completion of required trainings and recertifications.
- Coordinate alumni relations activities.
- Assist in the coordination of visiting professors and outside speakers: liaise with external presenters to ensure completion of relevant paperwork, arrange travel, process stipends/fees, and gather necessary information for successful participation.
- Oversee and maintain the physical office space, ordering equipment repairs, upgrades, and office supplies.
- Maintain the DACC physical asset inventory.
- Facilitate administrative needs in support of the research mission including the oversight of research space.
- Provide professional support to clinical department management and implement plans for clinical educational programs and initiatives.
- May act as a liaison between the section and other University departments.
- Perform other related work as needed.
- College or university degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a focus on serving the community through collaboration and respect.
- Handle sensitive and confidential situations and information with absolute discretion.
- Maintain calm and courteous demeanor and work productively despite competing priorities.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Follow an issue through to resolution.
- Take initiative and organize and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with central administration within a complex research university environment.
- Maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with co‑workers, faculty, guest speakers, venues, and vendors to promote a culture of wellness and excellence for the department.
- Office environment in BSD administrative buildings and UCMC hospital facilities.
