Technical Product Manager

As part of Cat Digital’s Technical Product Management team you will be a part of creating the next generation of digital solutions to enable enterprise growth in prime sales and aftermarket parts and services. Primary responsibilities include developing product requirements, technical solutions, and engineering roadmaps with an emphasis on maximizing solution re-use, customer value and enterprise value.

• Maximize the value of the product and define work for multiple scrum teams.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, System Engineering, Data and Analytics Architects & Platform Architects to own and progressively elaborate functional and non-functional Epics and Features for the Development Teams to deliver.
• Make all decisions regarding the Technical Product Backlog.
• Act as Product Manager for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization.
• Create, maintain and prioritize the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project.
• Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team.
• Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have.
• Responsible for product vision and conveying that vision to the team.
• Own definition of acceptance criteria for product features.
• Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Make decisions on release dates and content.
• Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer.
• Communicate releases to stakeholders and customers.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

• Business Analysis: knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs.
• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
• Effective Communications: ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs.
• Software Product Business Knowledge: experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product.
• Software Engineering: knowledge of software engineering methodologies and best practices.

• Lead programs from product strategy and building roadmaps.
• At least 4 years of experience in Product Management in the software space.
• Experience with data analytics and commercializing APIs.
• Business level Product Management (Applications or data platform).
• Cat domain knowledge.

• This position requires the candidate to be based in either Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL.
