Ameri Speak® is a growing, fast-paced, innovative, probability-based panel housed within NORC at the University of Chicago, a world leader in research excellence. The Panel Business Development Manager is responsible for selling Ameri Speak products and services to clients, developing client accounts, managing and mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the productive operation of the team. Responsibilities include training and supervising Associates, Senior Associates and new staff;
leading meetings with potential clients to convey NORC’s value proposition and guide the client to solutions; developing pricing and proposals; drafting contracts; leading kickoff meetings; and setting up the Client Services team for success in executing the projects we win.
Location:
This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago downtown office, with a minimum of six days per month in the office. DEPARTMENT:
Ameri Speak Ameri Speak® is the first U.S. multiclient household panel to combine the speed and cost-effectiveness of panel surveys with enhanced representativeness of the U.S. population, an approach designed to achieve an industry-leading response rate and an innovative sample quality report card. Ameri Speak has become the primary survey partner of the nation's preeminent news service, The Associated Press.
Developed and funded by NORC, Ameri Speak randomly identifies Americans—including the country’s hardest-to-reach populations—and recruits them to provide their opinions and insights on a wide range of topics critical to our clients. The outcome is a truly representative picture of America and, thus, more accurate research results for use in statistical surveys. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead client opportunities of basic to moderate complexity. This includes leading client meetings, fluently conveying our capabilities and value propositions, guiding clients to solutions, developing pricing, proposals and contracts, and setting up newly won projects. Support more complex client opportunities led by Senior Managers and above. Grow the Ameri Speak team’s account base, either by increasing NORC’s engagement with an existing client or by bringing new clients to NORC.
Serve as administrative supervisor and mentor to Associates. Train and develop new staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree. 5 years of survey or market research experience with minimum 1 year of client management experience. 2 years of experience managing and mentoring staff. Working knowledge of the principles and processes of survey research. Knowledge of at least one substantive or methodological area. Quantitative analysis skills and well-developed problem-solving skills. Time management, personal organization, attention to detail, discretion, and composure skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, identify and mitigate project risks, and work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders and internal/external clients. Ability to work effectively collaboratively with minimal supervision. Advanced ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) at all levels. Ability to write basic technical proposals and budget justifications for business proposals. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including word processors, spreadsheets and graphics (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Basic proficiency in Excel for analysis of sample counts and for budgeting projects. Basic proficiency in CRM applications such as Occasional travel. SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position is $96,000 - $121,000 This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
