The Licensing Manager will manage Coin Flip's licensing portfolio across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including state Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs), cryptocurrency-specific licenses (e.g., California's Digital Financial Assets Law and Illinois' Digital and Consumer Protection Act), and local business licenses required to operate Bitcoin ATM/cryptocurrency kiosks. This role is one of two primary points of contact for internal and external business partners and regulators on Coin Flip's licensing and regulatory compliance matters.
Responsibilities- Serve as one of two primary points of contact for state and federal regulators, including assisting with and coordinating the company's response to regulatory examinations, inquiries, and requests for information.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Coin Flip's licensing portfolio, including completing detailed applications, managing bonds, drafting supporting correspondence, and compiling documentation for new licenses, renewals, and amendments across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Own primary responsibility for municipal and local business licenses required to operate Bitcoin ATMs/cryptocurrency kiosks, including tracking jurisdiction-specific requirements, display requirements and renewal timelines as the kiosk network grows.
- Analyze and interpret state and federal licensing regulations (including state and/or federal cryptocurrency specific laws) in consultation with in-house counsel.
- Ensure the timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of every license application and submission.
- Maintain licenses after issuance in NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System), including tracking renewal deadlines and filing required periodic and annual reports on the company's behalf.
- Act as an internal resource to research, interpret, and clarify licensing requirements as Coin Flip's product offerings and geographic footprint evolve.
- Partner with internal teams (legal, compliance, operations) and external stakeholders to gather documentation and prepare submissions, and to respond to regulator inquiries and information requests.
- Support compliance audits and assist with identifying and remediating potential licensing or compliance issues.
- Work with management to prepare company personnel and materials in advance of regulatory examinations, interviews, and investigations.
- eview pending and approved changes to licensing and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions relevant to Bitcoin ATM/cryptocurrency kiosk operations, and flag impact to internal stakeholders.
