The Business Impact Manager (BIM) plays a critical day-to-day role in driving the operations strategy of Oliver Wyman’s industry and capability practices. The BIM organizes and prepares materials for team meetings, develops and maintains MIS, monitors content development and other investments, supports go-to-market offerings and commercial platforms, coordinates with other support functions, and assists with special projects. They also play a critical role in the annual strategy and budget-setting process and ensuring progress against it.
The BIM will work collaboratively across a range of functions: e.g. finance, business development/project lifecycle, marketing, knowledge and talent management, recruiting, legal and events as well as working with other BIMs in the organization.
The Performance Transformation (PT) Americas BIM will be part of the broader Americas Business Impact Department. Reporting is matrixed to the PT Americas Practice Leader and the Director of Business Impact for the Americas.
This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days per week in the office. There is no option to be fully remote.
Key ResponsibilitiesPractice Management
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans and operational enhancements
- Execute special projects aligned to the Practice’s top strategic priorities, drawing on resources and expertise from across the immediate team and the broader firm
- Work with the PT Americas Leadership Team to ensure that goals, objectives, and deadlines are met, including capability team leadership
- Often singlehandedly, develop and drive agendas for key practice and leadership team meetings
- Draft most Practice-related internal communications and management presentations
- Develop business cases for all matter of investments
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution phases of large-scale (100+ ppl) team events and activities
- Coordinate with other geographies on global projects and strategic priorities
- Work with Finance and Practice Leadership to develop, maintain/improve and monitor MIS, helping to identify matters requiring attention
- In collaboration with Finance, lead the analysis in conjunction with the annual budgeting and capacity planning process
- Work with Finance and Practice Leadership to ensure proper management and tracking of both ‘hard-’ and ‘soft-dollar’ investments
- Serve as point person for client-facing teams seeking project investments, often helping to develop the investment thesis and terms
- Help set experienced hire recruiting goals, interview senior candidates, and produce analysis to inform and influence experienced hire recruiting strategy and operations
- Oversee integration efforts for new joiners at all levels (internal and external); new Partners and Principals in particular
- Produce ad hoc analyses and points-of-view related to employee retention and attrition
