We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead roadway construction, sitework and excavation, and underground utility projects. This role is responsible for managing all phases of construction, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and skilled at coordinating teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Plan, execute, and close construction projects involving roadway work, sitework, and underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems
- Manage schedules, budgets, resources, and project timelines from preconstruction through closeout
- Lead and coordinate subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and field crews to achieve project objectives
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, and project stakeholders
- Develop and track project budgets and cost controls
- Manage change orders, forecasts, and project profitability
- Ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections and resolve quality issues proactively
- Implement and enforce OSHA safety standards
- Lead safety meetings, audits, and jobsite compliance initiatives
- Identify potential project risks, delays, or conflicts
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
- Maintain accurate project documentation including progress reports, submittals, RFIs, and closeout packages
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of project management experience in roadway construction, sitework, excavation, or underground utilities
- Proficiency with construction and project management software preferred
(HCSS Heavy Job, Microsoft Project, Primavera, Procore, or similar)
- Strong understanding of asphalt paving, grading, drainage, and utility systems
- Experience with DOT or municipal projects is a plus
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
