Overview

Techcom LLC is seeking an experienced Construction (Placing) Manager to oversee aerial and underground fiber placing crews on active FTTH projects. This role focuses on field coordination, daily planning, and real-time problem solving across multiple crews.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily aerial and underground fiber placing crews across active FTTH projects
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews, client supervisors, inspectors, and internal management
  • Plan and adjust daily work assignments to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
  • Resolve field issues in real time, including access problems, design conflicts, safety concerns, and customer interactions
  • Ensure all placing work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and company standards
  • Support crews with materials, documentation, and technical guidance as needed
  • Track daily production, progress, and issues using basic digital tools (apps, spreadsheets, email)
  • Proactively identify risks or delays and communicate solutions to upper management
  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new placing foremen and crew members
Requirements
  • Prior experience in fiber optic construction, preferably FTTH aerial and/or underground placing
  • Foreman or lead-level experience in fiber placing projects strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with field crews, inspectors, and client representatives
  • Basic proficiency with technology (smartphone apps, spreadsheets, email, reporting tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take ownership of field issues
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to aerial and underground fiber construction
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites as needed
