We are currently recruiting for a Construction Estimator to be based in our Decatur, IL or Cedar Rapids, IA office and travel is required. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating complex self-performed construction projects that strengthen and extend the life of our nation’s structures. Projects typically include concrete repair, waterproofing, structural strengthening, post-tension repairs, and related work.

• Prepare estimates by calculating statistics such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per hour, and equipment costs to complete the scope of work.
• Define and quantify the scope of work and prepare comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects.
• Review historical data and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedents for future estimates.
• Prepare project procurement (including design-build) and buyouts to ensure resources are available for project completion.
• Develop detailed subcontractor scope packages, outlining work requirements, deliverables, and performance expectations for each trade, ensuring clear communication and accurate cost estimates for bids.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• 3–9 years of construction estimating experience, ideally in related projects.
• Ability to estimate projects of moderate complexity up to $5 million and to mentor on multiple estimates.
• Ability to evaluate, quantify, and capture specification requirements within the estimate; experience with construction contract terms and conditions.
• Strong understanding of the greater Florida construction market, including current market prices and key stakeholders (engineers, architects, property managers, owners).
• Experience maintaining client relationships with light business development.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software; able to read blueprints.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
